The first thing I noticed when reading the introduction was the terrible grammar. It makes you wonder who proof read this book? If I was them I’d ask for my money back! I counted 7 sentences that were badly written in the first Page! An example of this is: ‘that does not requirements much time’.
Once I got over this I settled down to read this book. Basically it is recipes for an instant pot, which appear to be all the rage at the moment and you can buy them on Amazon.
The book consists of an introduction section which gives advice on the actual Instant Pot. It has ‘What the buttons mean’, ‘Steam releasing options’, ‘Maintenance of Instant Pot’, ‘Instant Pot- Do’s and Don’ts’, ‘Instant Pot terminology for beginners’, ‘Instant pot options’, ‘Where to buy Instant Pot’, ‘Instant Pot Pressure Cooking Time List’, ‘Dirty dozen and clean fifteen ‘and ‘Cooking measurement conversion’…so pretty comprehensive.
This recipe book covers recipes for Vegans, Vegetarians and Gluten Free.

Chapter 10

Chapter 3 has 8 Delicious soups

Chapter 6 has 8 Beans and grains recipes

Chapter 4

Chapter 7 has 10 Fast and easy snacks and appetizers

Chapter 3

Chapter 8 has 9 Dessert recipes

This book has 74 tasty recipes, the majority of which look very appetising!
I would have given this book 5 stars if not for the poor grammar at the start of the book.

Pages: 72

Calling all budding photographers!

Being a keen photographer I’ve always wanted to know more about the subject but most books are quite boggy and difficult to understand. That’s why I was keen to have a closer look at this product. Even if you are a novice photographer you will find this book takes you from step one, explaining those technical terms, right up to the point where you can confidently manipulate your photos for the best effect.

The author shows these effects using photographs to illustrate what the end product would look like

I enjoyed this book as it kept my interest, moving steadily through all the chapters without jumping too far ahead. The author has thought about the layout, made it easy to follow and does not assume anything from the reader.

Overall, a great book for the price and one that i’m sure you will be glad you purchased.

Photoshop: The Ultimate Beginners’ Guide to Mastering Adobe Photoshop in 1 Week by John Slavio

I was quite interested in this ebook as, like many, I had tried Photoshop many times without really knowing what I was doing. Sure, there are hundreds of Photoshop related videos on sites like Youtube, but most go so quickly and assume you know what they are talking about, that you do not have the chance to really learn from them.

I like the fresh clean look of this book, which starts off with an introduction and then goes on to discuss the different versions of Photoshop. It then goes onto the getting started section followed by the Tool Bar. The Options Bar, Basic operations in Photoshop, Layers in Photoshop,Working with images in Photoshop and Shortcuts are also fully explained. The book finishes off with the conclusion, ‘Open your Photoshop and start practising today!’

The book really does take you step by step as a beginner around the workspace, explaining every feature that you can see.

This ebook contains 167 pages packed full of easy to understand instructions and assumes that you have no knowledge of Photoshop at all.The book has a number of screenshots allowing you to follow along when you have Photoshop open.

If your looking for a Photoshop tutorial book that gives you projects to complete then you do not need this book. If you want a book that explains all the functions of Photoshop and give you a good foundation on what to build on then you have to purchase this book.

The Doppleganger Protocol – Remnants of war, Book two by Patrick Astre

The Doppleganger Protocol – Remnants of War Book two

by Patrick Astre

“Post 9-11, the CIA began developing “Chupacabra”—genetically engineered animals—to track and kill insurgents in Afghanistan. Now the program is complete… and in Russian hands.

The first mission: eliminate an undercover agent before he can hand-off secret information. But now every person who came in contact with the body is dying, and the virus is spreading.”

I had not read the first book in this series so wondered if I would not be able to understand the plot. However, I was pleasantly surprised that you can pick this book up and follow it without that prior knowledge. I am an avid reader and would put this book within the top 30 books I have read. I liked the short chapters, I tend to get a bit bored of the authors who think I want to read about the same part of the plot for hours on end. I like short snappy chapters, flinging me around the plot so I can’t wait to read the next one. This is how this book has been written and I found it difficult to put it down. I found the first chapter laden with a few unusual words (thank heavens for the Kindle dictionary!) as if to impress the reader, but after that the author settled down and just got on with writing a good story.

A little note on the author, who served in the US Army Infantry, stationed in Germany during the height of the cold war. Rising to the rank of Sergeant E-5, Astre finished his last year of service as a Drill Instructor at Fort Benning, Georgia.

I love books that include plenty of researched detail, (Dan Brown, Clive Cussler, James Rollins) and this book does not disappoint. You can tell that the author has detailed knowledge of firearms and police/Authority practices.

The main character, Richard Daniels is a believable, credible and likeable character, which is a reason why I will be reading all the other books by this author. The creatures created are believable (Yes, honestly!) and pretty terrifying…Just imagine if something like that could be unleashed! The teamwork between him and his old army colleague, Chantel Latour takes the book on to another level and you find yourself cheering them on in their quest to find the answers to the Chupacabra riddle.

Great ending to the book as well (No, this is not a spoiler alert). I’m not going to give anything away but if you like thrillers then this is the book series for you. Buy it now, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.

Adam quickly learns that his former life holds everything he could ask for: plenty of money, a stunning girlfriend and an enviable talent for drawing. For a moment, it even seems like things might go back to being normal again. But everything is shattered when an unknown man attempts at Adam’s assassination.

He knows something dark lies in his past. But he can’t imagine just how dark it is.

A man on a desperate race for survival Adam is trying to piece together the remains of his past. A dark, urban thriller about love, crime and blood that will leave you sweating.’

The book starts with Adam waking up on a beach near to a trussed up dead body and no memory of who he was or what had happened. This starts the journey of the main character along with another unfortunate soul, Victor and the  women in their lives. The story chops about a bit but it really is one of those books that you can follow easily and can’t wait to turn over to the next page. For me, it kept me interested in the story and characters. If you like crime thrillers then give this one a try and i’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

Survival: Hijacking into Freedom by M.Ben Yanay

World War II through the eyes of four exceptional heroes

Janus is a Hungarian Jew serving in the Hungarian Army. When his brigade is put to the service of the fleeing German forces, at end of the Second World War, Janus finds himself driving an SS truck under heavy soviet attacks in the Hungarian woods. With his wife and children on his mind, he tries to escape.

An engulfing human drama based on real historical events

In the woods, Janus meets Bob, an Afro-American pilot from the famous all black “Tuskegee Squadron” unit. Bob is shot down at war and captured by a group of Partisans, where he meets Ina, a Russian medical officer who dreams of a new life in America. Against all odds, and despite their different backgrounds, religions and languages, these three uncommon heroes manage to capture a German train locomotive and try to drive it to their freedom.

All the while, Janus’s wife, Terry, endures war with their three children, first in the city, and then at the Ghetto of Debrecen, their hometown. After her middle child is murdered, the family is sent to extermination in Auschwitz, but miraculously saved at the last moment.

A remarkable view of World War II read with bated breath

Towards the end of the war, these four stories converge into one unbelievable drama, providing a gripping and multidimensional view of a most significant period in the history of humanity.

This book revolves around the lives of four people and their different stories of their battle for survival against all odds. I enjoy reading books from this period and found that this book did not disappoint. Sometimes a bit slow but that is made up by the extraordinary writing and i could feel myself there witnessing their struggles. Concentration camp books always amaze me with how people actually managed to survive such an ordeal. I have read many real life camp books and even though this is fiction, it still contains those haunting images of the camp residents and the brutal way they were subjected to  degradation.

Overall an enthralling book and well worth a read.

Architecture of Survival: Holocaust Diaries (WW2 Memoirs Book 1) by Israel Stein

** I tested and reviewed this product gratis from the vendor in return for filing a review **

A Jewish family survives the Holocaust hidden by a Polish family

In 1939, when the Second World War broke out, the Stein family escaped Poland. Paula, a polyglot architect, and Meir, a textile industrialist, fled with their only child, Israel, to Vilnius, Lithuania, and later to Bialystok, attempting to save themselves from certain death in the extermination camps.

In the midst of terror, there they found grace

In August 1943, the Bialystok Ghetto was emptied by the Nazis and all its occupants were sent to extermination. The Steins had managed to remain hidden in the Ghetto for five more weeks, before escaping to their new hideout—the home of a Polish family, backed by a German official, that gave them refuge. They remained hidden there for nearly a year, until the war ended, with the daily danger of being discovered and sent to death. They lived to see Bialystok liberated by the Russian Red Army, and eventually settled in the new state of Israel.

The events of the Holocaust as they were seen through the eyes of a real middle-class Polish Jewish family

Architecture of Survival brings forward the diaries Paula and Meir Stein wrote while in hideout during the Second World War, accompanied by the vivid visual memories of their son, Israel Stein, who witnessed the horrors as a child. It is a rare historical documentation, read in bated breath.

This is not one book but three from the perspectives of three family members. The first is from the eyes of a 5 year old boy, who tells his story from his first experience of the ghettos and the ‘actarias’ (thinning out of the Ghetto), the Lukishki prison to his eventual survival. The second is from the boy’s mother and her diaries, showing ingenuity and her survival instincts for the sake of her family and the third is from the father’s point of view trying to provide and protect his family. Whatever your knowledge is of the holocaust you will still find details that you were not aware of describing the horror that they went through, not only from the Germans but also from the Lithuanians (which i had never read about before). Some of it reminds me of movies like The Pianist, where the disabled guy is thrown out of a third floor window because he couldn’t stand up. This story cannot be told often enough and we must keep reminding ourselves of the way in which we are capable of treating other people because they don’t fit our ideal.

When a bomb goes off at Yellowstone National Park, threatening the stability of the world’s largest active volcano, the reclusive park ranger Harvey “Ben” Bennett is startled to realize that the blast itself wasn’t the only threat: the bomb released a virus into the air, and the outbreak is beginning to infect and kill more and more people.

Ben teams up with Juliette Richardson, a driven CDC agent working inside the newly-formed BTR (Biological Threat Research) team, to find the people behind the act of terrorism.

When the attacks get personal, Ben and Julie take it upon themselves to seek out and destroy the threat before it’s too late.

A race across the United States, chasing terrorists, dodging bullets, and escaping the threat of a deadly virus outbreak and military apocalypse…

…this is not an action thriller novel you’ll want to miss…

I never wanted to put this book down! The main character, Harvey Bennett, is the type of character that you found yourself cheering for. I was kept interested in the story all the way through, liking the different characters. There was a lot of detail in the story, almost like James Rollins and Dan Brown books, which i like. I found the story based around the Yellowstone National Park and in particular the caldera hidden below the surface interesting giving the book a second background story. Can Bennett save the world or will he be blown to pieces? Well you will have to get this book and find out.

Undisclosed by Steve Alten

A veteran of the Iraq war is appointed Under Secretary of Defense in order to penetrate a secret government purposely black-shelving zero-point-energy, a clean, abundant energy source reverse-engineered from downed UFOs. Are Extraterrestrials and UFOs real? Are there secret subterranean military bases hiding advanced technologies that date back to the incident at Roswell? Is there a False Flag in the works intended to wipe out billions? Steve Alten’s UNDISCLOSED is a mind-opening thriller of “faction” which incorporates testimonials from military and intelligence personnel who were actual eyewitnesses and participants involved in the greatest secret in history.
“There is far more to existence than what you were taught in school, Mr. Shariak. The truth has been purposely hidden from us… the knowledge stolen, concealed between conspiracy theory and conspiracy fact and your ability to distinguish between the two may just save your life and our planet.”
“I understand.”
Dr. Manley snorted a laugh. “You haven’t a clue. Once you enter the Rabbit’s Hole you’ll be considered a threat to the status quo. Zero-point-energy will not just replace fossil fuels; it is the game-changer that will eliminate hunger and poverty, pollution and climate change, disease and war… it will skyrocket the global economy and place every nation on an even playing field. Free, clean energy unlocks the door to humanity’s evolution as a species and we’ve possessed the key for 70 years, only the gatekeepers refused to allow us to use it in order to protect the oil oligarchs and the military industrial complex. It is the new physics that allows us to explore the galaxy and beyond.”
“Wait… Are you saying we have the means to travel faster than the speed of light?”
“Yes. Only we didn’t invent it. We reverse-engineered it.”
“Reverse-engineered it? From who?”

Three years ago, N.Y. Times best-selling author Steve Alten was given access to testimonials from military intelligence regarding the undisclosed TRUTH about UFOs, Extraterrestrials, secret subterranean bases… and zero-point-energy – a free, clean source of energy that has purposely been black-shelved since the events at Roswell Army Air Force Base in 1947. All is revealed in the pages of this mind-blowing thriller – a novel of “faction” written to provide a glimpse of what awaits us as a species – depending upon the path we choose.

I couldn’t wait for this book to come out for three reasons, one – I love Steve Alten books and have read every one he has written, two – I’m a character in this book and three – I’ve read Dr Steven Greer’s Unacknowledged book (reviewed on my blog) and wanted to know how this book interacted with Unacknowledged. Steve Alten writes ‘faction’ which is fiction interweaved with fact, which makes for a very interesting read.

The story revolves around Adam Shariak, who manages to get himself promoted to Under Secretary of Defence with ‘cosmic’ security clearance. His backers were hoping to get him in ‘under the radar’ before those responsible for withholding these reversed engineered clean energy systems could eliminate him. This story is gripping and shows the lengths the elite will go to cover their treacherous ways. There are some great characters, obviously mine, who will probably be played by Al Pacino in the movie and many others. A riveting read and one that anyone will enjoy.

I have read some reviews of this book that seem to forget that this is a story. Yes, it talks about extraterrestrials and some of you might think that only crazy people talk about this subject with a certain amount of seriousness (which is what the elite and media want us to believe), but it also talks about a very serious matter for all of us – how we are killing this planet and if we don’t do something about it soon we will have gone past the point of no return! I don’t think any of us, unless you have had your head in a bucket, deny that global warming, plastic, human waste, fossil fuel etc is harming our environment. If there is an energy source that is free for all of us i, for one, cannot believe that it is being kept from us just because the elite might lose some of their fortune. They certainly won’t be able to take it with them when they pass on but they may regret what they have done when they are on their death beds….but it may be too late for the rest of us! Are there secret underground complexes that are housing crashed UFO’s and dead aliens?, did we cause two UFO’s to crash at Roswell? Did we find a living alien in the wreckage and did we keep him alive for a number of years? Are we stupid enough to believe that we could be the only planet with living beings? Do the aliens believe we are too violent to be given access to space vehicles that can travel millions of miles in Space? Are we really as advanced as we think?   It doesn’t matter what your beliefs are, this is a very interesting book and you need it in your life, now!
